Baby names?

I've always liked Amber for a girl...other favs are Crystal, Michelle, Leslie, Sheila

Boys...Michael or Mike. ;)

I'll give you another reason to stick to reasonable names. At work I have reason to check the hospital census on a daily basis, and because of my job, I have access to the census for the psychiatric floor. If you spot a weird name on the census, the chances that that person are on the psychiatriac floor are greater than them not being there. I haven't seen anything listed here so far that would qualify, but it does suggest that really weird names make kids the butt of jokes and it has far reaching effects.

That being said..I like Olivia!!

For a girl my wife likes Abigail.

It means Daddys little Angel.

We have narrowed it down to 3 names for our second coming in July

Amanda
Amber
Sierra

both my kids names were in complete austin javier and sarah rebecca , sarah was named after my little sister and her older sister who passed away whose name was emily sarah ...emily and sarah where both very old fashioned and great grandmas names on both sides ...i loved that name and it was biblical ...but then i looked at the top fifty baby names for girls and got emily which was number 1 and sarah which was number two ..lol so now i have very unidentifiable children at the playground ..lol

well I do believe that I can comment on actually having a 'made up' odd name. Tommie Saray is my name and I go by Saray... now after reading this I just want to ask how many people pronounced it suh-ray? Because thats how it is suppose to sound...not sarah or sayray or searay or suh rye or anything. And as for the Tommie (yes 'ie' not 'y') part it was my grandmother's name (Tommie Beatrice).. at least they didn't name me Beatrice, right? Anyhows there's been many a times that I wish I would have had a common per se name instead of a make believe one but at other times I absolutely love having something different. And just to back this up my graduating class had a total of 38 kids in it....6 Ashley's, 3 Samantha's, 5 Stephanie's, 2 Brian/Bryan's, 3 David's, 4 Johnny/John/Jonathan's, and a few more I can't remember but i was definitely the only Saray in the pack. That adds up to more than 1/2 of my entire class have duplicate names! And to top it off my first daughter will hopefully be Rinnah McKay and the lil boy shall be Brike Airian or Eimmot McKay (possibly)...but I have a whole slew of names to choose from..... and just for a quick add-on... how about Jaerron for a boy? Jarron, Jerron, Jirron, etc... you get the idea..

Hey saray, how do you say Eimmot? I like Emmett, but I'm not sure they are pronounced the same. I would like something a little different, but it seems like they are never different for very long. I know some of the names that were "weird" a few years ago are pretty common now. But I could choke the people naming their kids after brand names! I apologize if anyone on here has! I also kind of like Marley, for either, but more so a girl, but its near the bottom of the list!

I totally agree with avoiding the really bizarre names. This trend seems to have started with celebrities. Gwyneth Paltrow named her poor kid Apple! Other nutty celebrity baby names: Daisy-Boo, Poppy-Honey, Denim, Zowie, Coco. (I'm not making these up) And how about George Forman naming all 7 kids George??

I've always wanted to name a girl Grace, after my grandmother. I'm Virginia, and I like having a classic, not so common name. My parents wanted to call me Ginny, but not the very common in my age group Jenny or Jennifer. So that's how I got Virginia. I do have at least a couple of patients a week who think they're funny and start the "Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus..." thing. "HA HA I've never heard that one!" I say to them. Funny thing about my fairly uncommon name, on night when I worked in the CCU we had a total of 5 nurses working. 3 of us were Virginia! One Virginia usually worked day shift, and the other floated from another unit, and me. It was a very confusing shift!

Eimmot is Emmett... lol.. it all depends on how you pronounce it. I suppose its like the people who say ah-ga-tha versues ay-ga-tha or even jah-niss vs. ja-neice or bee-a-triss vs bee-at-tris vs. bee-uh-trice... and to think those are all in my family tree! :thud:
