Baby Needle-Nose Gars

theres no point doing daily water changes
the ammonia starts at 2-4 weeks
i do mine on my 15gal every 2nd week.
1 a day IS pointless
sorry lupin!
you have awesome tanks
unless you got overstocked tanks like neo and budley
you should do one every week?

What exactly are you trying to say here??

I'm not gonna let the thread end on this note.

That daily water changes on fry that have possibly never been kept alive aren't necesary?

I think not.

And what does, the ammonia starts at 2 weeks mean? It "starts" immediately, it doesen't just disapear, and then decide to come back in 2 weeks.

If I were you, I would also do at least twice a week, way better daily if you wanna have any chance at keeping them alive for more than a few more days.

I think he was talking more along the lines of a brand new tank, thanks for wanting to clear this up, and also for realizing the importance of a decision in this situation.

Today's tank params are as follows:

Monday July 23rd @ 7:00 pm
(Day 7)

Temp = 76 degrees
pH = 7.2
Ammonia = 0 ppm
Nitrite = 2 ppm
Nitrate = 0 ppm

Oh, and last night, I checked the tank, and there was a little baby gar swimming into the side of the fry net facing the current. Then this morning, I was checking on him, and saw 4 more. Here we go...

I have been adding eggs every time I notice them breeding, after giving them time to do their thing, and today their are at at least 12 eggs past the first noticeable growth stage, and at least 25 still clear with no noticeable growth yet.

any joy with feeding? The blog on the web I linked to seemed to start with liquifry before baby brine shrimp, but if they're big enough to feed on brine shrimp that would be better (less water contamination). I'll admit I've never kept needlefish so this might be worse than useless, but I found baby Daphnia a suitable step up from brine shrimp when young fish were big enough.

I'd say weekly to twice weekly changes, 30% weekly or 20% twice weekly. That tank is OS (but seeing as you are getting larger tanks), so it needs increased maintenance.
