hi i was wondering if my baby pacu are showing signs of stress , i have 2 oscars 1 is about 21/2 inches and the other is about 3 inches and i recantly bought 2 pacu about 3 or 4 inches in size they are all in the same tank about 4o gallons. the pacu are quite larger than the oscars but they are always swimming like there following each other doing loops and looking like there on a roller coaster , they act like the oscars arent even there but should they always be this active or is there something that i might need to know about

pacus are usually shy and easily startled..

btw... these fishes that u have will outgrow ur tank..

i think pacus can grow up to 18 inches or sumthing like that.. they are better off in a large pond than in most tanks... i hope u have a plan on where to put them because they can grow pretty quick.. and the oscars can get huge too... im not sure but maybe its something like 12 inches?

gudluk :dive2:

Obviously your pacus are going to be way to big for your tank and honestly your oscars will out grow the tank too they are very agressive fish once they get older and 40 gallons just isnt enough for them. Most people here would only put one oscar in a 50 - 55 gallon tank i think 75 would probly be the minimum for 2 of them. if they become mature in the 40 gallon they may becom sick and or try to kill each other

They will definately outgrow your tank really fast. Also thats normal behavior for pacus, they do that even when they are full grown. I've heard many stories of busted tanks because of their activity level.
