What is a good cheap background for a 10 gallon tank? I need cheap because my husband is giving me fits about the money I have spent on this tank. I would like something dark.

paper, foil ,cloth. you can use anything you want. If you have an old outdoor table cloth you could paint it the way you want it to look. Black plastic garbage bags work too. You just want to pick something that will not show water wear. If the tank were emptied you could even spray paint the back of the tank.

some of mine have bristle board backgrounds. you can find something at the dollat store

hmm... big paper thing, like thin cardboard....almost like construction paper but thicker and stronger

just looked it up. it's bristol board not bristle board

I think I will get some colored poster board and see what I can make out of that. Thanks for the suggestions it really did help.

I just had a completely new idea. I have never tried this but I see no reason it would not work. Reynolds wrap press and seal with plant clippings, or other small decorative bits that would lay flat. Arrange the decoration on a sheet cut big enough for the tank leaving some space between the pieces. Put another layer directly on the back of the tank making sure to get all the air bubbles out. Put the decorated piece against it sticky side down to stick it to the other layer that is already on the tank.

Paint is the best

but if not.. I recomend going to the drugstore and getting a sheet of that thick paper they sell in single sheets.. I have that on a couple of the tanks I didnt wanna paint
