So i have been into the DIY backgrounds at the moment. Trialling a new coating cement and also a new sealer. I am hoping to be able to sell tanks with one off handmade backgrounds in them. Thats the plan anyway, hence the trials to find the one that works best for what i want.

Just finished the 1st one, its now sitting curing before it goes into the tank

Will update on these above as they progress and any new ones started :)

Looking good!

filter inlet...?

Yep...the mesh is for filter inlet and/or outlet......The heater also can sit behind there, so a small powerhead is often in there to keep water moving

1 background has been installed, some feeder fish added as testers. Going really well so far

Pretty sharp!

Curious, I have been looking into doing this to a few of my tanks.. Been seeing a couple different ways of doing this. What type of supplies have you been using? I went today to locate some of the items and only found the pigment/coloring.. Wasnt able to find the right cement..
What you have so far looks KILLER!! I like the 2nd one the best!! Keep us posted

As this is sealed prettymuch any cement will work

The 2nd background is still waiting to be sealed, am hoping to get to it this weekend. Bad weather has stopped me lately being able to get it done. If i cant get to it this weekend it will have to sit for at least a few more weeks before i can try again

The 1st one is holding up brilliantly, and fish are doing well. So think i may have found my sealer finally
