Anyone out there have any experience with bio filter "jump start" pakages? If you have ever read my posts, you'll know I had a black Ich outbreak and a homocidal damsel that decimated my tank population.

I have now let the tank sit for 20 days without fish. A concentrated dose of No-ICH Marine seems to have done quite a number on the black spot worms, and I feel the tank is ready for restocking. Obviously I am going to start slowly as my bio filter has been severely diminished, if not wiped out. I saw a product in my LFS claiming to reduce tank cycling time to 2 weeks. It is supposed to be cultivated bacteria that just jump right in where nature takes too much time. Is this possible? Does it work, or is this just a waste of money shortcut?

As with the FW versions, these products are usually snake oil. A product that is refridgerated, and carries an expiration date might be effective. You'd really be better off buying some new live rock or a cup of sand from an established tank, IMO.
