Bad Allergies to Bloodworms

Just me, but I'd be visiting a doctor. Severe allergic reactions that don't respond to anti-histamines can be serious, and require more than an OTC. I'd also invest in some good gloves to use when feeding fish. I feel for you though--I was stung by a bee right next to my eye, and in addition to the swelling, it turned a lovely black and blue. I felt okay so went in to work--but they sent me home. Seems my appearance would have worried customers. 
Yup.... I spent an evening in the hospital after a run in with bloodworms... I think you look better than I did!

This has happened before though, it takes a day or two to clear up. But I think I'll be okay.
I always forget to wear gloves when I am testing my water, and sometimes when I am shaking the tube some of the chemicaled water comes out from under the cap. My fingers sometimes swell up and I get hives on my hands. Fishkeeping = danger!

I'm severely allergic to bloodworms, too. I can't even touch them with my finger tips without them itching and swelling up on me. I can only imagine what it must be like to get that crap in your eye. I feel your pain.

I have this friend who loved to eat srhimp, and one day he started to feel weird, all swollen up, and spent the night in the hospital. He was 23 when this happened and can not eat shrimp again. The same happened to my little niece, who developed shrimp allergie when he was 4 yera olds, and he ate shrimp for 1 whole year before becoming sensitive.
And remeber the Peanut allergie: Recently a girl passed away in Canada bacause she kissed his boyfriend who happened to be eating a peanut candy.

Not sure if you can get it in the US, but there is a really good alergy eye drop called Chromalyn (sp?)..It is really good and effective...
I'm allergic to bloodworms too. I've had my eye swollen shut for a day or 2 also. I didn't goto the dr's either. I itch just thinking about them. Then again I just ate some shrimp about an hour ago. Now my throat feels a little swollen. I never would of noticed if it wasn't for this thread. What's that called?
