can you put a betta with a bala shark? i just bought the shark and i know my 60 gallon is to small for when he gets bigger but for now its plenty of room. i also have 16 neons 4 angels a freshwater flounger a bamboo shrimp corys and otos. will a betta be happy in my tank?

thanks

matt

No, the betta will likely become too aggressive for someone in that tank, most specifically the angels. Don't add a betta to that tank.

I don't think the bala and the betta would be a problem, but the angels and possibly the neons would. I've heard of bettas going after neons becuase of the bright colors. Plus if your bala is as much of a pig as my three are the betta would never eat  !!!!

I would be nervous of the bala as it is alone and they tend to go a bit crazy when not kept in groups. Also why geta fish you know you won't be able to keep? Do you have a home for it when it gets larger? You may have trouble getting rid of a monster fish.

Balas aren't that mean, but they can become a very unstable fish when kept in smaller tanks and without friends. They have a tendancy to jump or else ram themselevs into tank walls.

you also might have problems with your angel and neons since ive read that neons are angels natural food source, and also ive read that there are no freshwater flounders, they will eventually need brakish water

a freshwater flounder will need Brackish water as Centralharbor stated. The bala shark will grow too big for that tank IMO.
