I have 3 bala sharks in a 55 gallon tank. Today I added 2 giant danios. The danios seem to be bullying the balas, chasing/nipping any bala in view. The balas are hiding as much as they can but just can't seem to stay out of their way.

Is this normal? Will they work it out, or are the danios likely to hurt the balas? Please help!!

Giant danios are freaks ALWAYS on the move so active most fish cant stand it but agresive not very. The balas are just spooked make double sure they cant jump out and everything should workout fine. One of my first tanks was a 55 with G danios and balas.
Once the fish calm down a good addition would be a pair of microgeo alspinosa (bolivion rams)

BTW welcome to AC:D

We have 10 Giants in our 120G. We have nicknamed them the bullies :) . They seem to be always running after someone or each other and at feeding time they were the first to eat! Our 4 balas were a little timid around them at first but all is fine. Now the balas sometime beat the Danios to the top for the food:D . It was funny to see our new bosemani rainbows turning and giving chase to the danios for a change. The Danios like to give chase and butt in line for food but they have never been truly aggressive to any of our other fish.

I have a 4" giant danio in a 55G tank with a breeding pair of texas cichlids. Every other fish i have ever put in was either killed or bullied in the worst ways. Hes worse than the cichlids.
His rap sheet:
6" flying fox
5" black shark
other giant danios
young cichlids
a big chinese algae eater
3"- 5" t-bar and clown barbs

Well i have given up. Hes doing just fine in the tank with just the texas cichlids, they leave each other alone. Though i think he may snag a few fry at times.
But hes a cool fish that i would never part with. Great attitude and has been nick named Satan.
