Is he reef safe, I cant imagine why not, he only eats algae.
I got him today and don't know where to put him.

Yes, but do you have a bryopsis or other issue? Your tank looked clear of any big issues.
If not it will starve and foul your tank. It is VERY good at it's job I hear and a few groups get one and then "rent" it or give it to other tanks that is having a problem. Helps keep it in food.

Is there any type of dry algae I could feed him?
Is there any way to promote algae growth in my QT tank, so I can put him in there when hes not needed in my reg. tank?
I would hate to bring him to and from the store regularly.
