I was in the LFS the other day and noticed a tank with bamboo fully underwater for sale like Iv'e seen in stores as a house plant " lucky bamboo?" They were to busy to ask and I was wondering is it for ponds only or can you use it in a fish tank?
Thanks
You can also use the fake bamboo "Tetra Water Wonders Artificial Asian Bamboo Plants". After seeing a picture from one of our members, I ordered some myself.
"Lucky bamboo" isn't really a bamboo at all; it's a species of Dracaena (dra-SEE-na). You can keep it alive for a while with one end in the water and the other end exposed to the air, but after several months it needs to be planted in moist (not wet) soil or it will die. Totally submerged, it will die within a couple months. There's another species of Dracaena that's often sold as an aquarium plant. It will also die after a couple months. http://pics.davesgarden.com/pics/lolly_braine_1133272995_474.jpg
