Hey i saw some bamboo shrimp the other day and watched them filter feed and decided they were the next cutest thing i had to have... so some questions about them to see if i would be right to own one...

1. I know they filter feed but would Hikari Micro Pellets be small enough for that?
2. I know they get like 3-4 inches so would they be compatible in a 20g comm tank with 1x female apisto, 1x curviceps, and some danios/white clouds

thanks for any input

You really just need to put something they can cling too in the output flow of your filter and they will be all set. I've had 3 in a community tank for over a year and have never fed them anything special, they just cling to the long stick I put in the water output and eat.

alright cool. there just happens to be bonzai type tree thing directly in the current
thanks

I feed mine that powdered fry food. If they are grazing on the substrate I worry that they are not getting enough to eat so I will take a pinch of the food and hold it down in the water just slightly up current of the shrimp. They love it and their little hands move so fast. I love to watch them. They also just walk over the other fish and poke them if they get irritated enough.

hahaha thats hilarious. Yeah i was thinking the Hikari First Bite would be good

My 2 boo girls, Mei and Neo, love the Hikari First Bites. I too add a bit if I see them scrounging around the bottom looking for eats. I have an 18 inch fake bamboo plant that I have set up in front of the filter. It goes up the side of the tank and right in front of my outflow. The girls love to sit right there, waving their pretty lil fans in the stream! Bamboo shrimp ROCK!

just bought him today... lol i sat there in Petco for my whole lunch today because i am really REALLY skeptical about their fish... i picked out the healthiest one, it was the only one eating lol. anyway i hope it does good. :D

Good luck and if you can, share some pics!
Last time I was at Petco, I saw 9, count 'em, 9 bamboo shrimps, all females, lined up in the front of the tank fanning away. Amazing to watch them! For what it's worth, I got mine at Petco earlier this year, and they have turned out fine.
