I just seen a picture of a tank with Bamboo growing completely submersed. How hard is it to grow bamboo, any CO2 or ferts required. will they help with my Nitrate issue....

Bamboo will only survive for a few months completely submerged, it's not an aquatic plant.

I was wondering this too- have some I'd love to plant in mine. If it'll eventually die than I guess I should avoid doing so.

i planted a "bamboo forest" in my tank, it looked great! then it turned brown and gunked up my tank. (took bout three months to die)

If you are talking about "lucky bamboo" it is not bamboo, it is a Dracaena spp. and is a terrestrial. It will eventually rot. I can grow immersed, but not submersed. Real bamboo Phyllostachys spp hate water on their feet. There is one species that my friend got from Singapore that he found in a freshwater pond that looks similar, but it is not a true bamboo either. I have never seen that species here in the US

well thanks for all the help. im justing looking for some plants for my KNife/angel tank, and my african cichlids tank wich houses 3 small cichlids and one 6" kenyi
