Thease shrimp turn reddish if they are not on wood ,they love floating wood near a poerwead & will stay in the flow undisturbed 4 what seems ever. They get a light colored line on back when on wood that looks like a twig& turn wood color blending in the turbulant water rushing past the near surface wood.they love the under side of floating wood.My algae eating shrimp join in from time to time but cant keep up with the currant for long.Truely Peaceful in comunity tanks or planted aquaria :)

I saw one of these at a local PetCo, but they were labled as "Crayfish". Might be a different one, but I saw it all opened up catching stuff coming through the filter outlet. Then some other guy went and bought him :soda:

I wish I could post a pic they go from green with cream stripe to srtipey reddish brown I got more realy big ones today & cleaned out all the small ones ,they are unactive.if disturbed look like swimming fish .very adgile.I scooped 2 out in my hand & they just say up watching me ,as soon as my hand got close to the tank they ran off into the water. The big ones look rather scarey but are just into filtering the water . When the little ones were still in the bag all 4 were hugging tightly ,I thought they were killing 1 so I broke it up but when I left they all scurried back to hugging & I mean a ball of hug 4 poining same way some upside down locked tightly in a comphorting embrace awwww still for miniuttes on end until I came over. so I kept peeking figureing they didnt know what was happening but it was just so twinny. an 8 arm hug is pretty tight especialy when theres 32 of them .their fans remane closed(looking pointy) until in the right spot where theres waterflow.

SO HERES THE QUESTION. how many fanshrimp does it take to replace your filter :p:

amazing picture of 1 in their reddish wood look. I see the same red ones look green with cream stripe on back depending what they are fanning ontop of, sometimes I think they are other shrimp ,maybe change colour depending on what they eat or stress level. The largest 1 I have remains that brownish colour but has developed lines & spots helping him to realy blend in.
Thanks for posting the great pic & find him some buddys they like their own kind. I'm still getting over them all hugging.
