Banded Kuhli Spawning Activity Noted; Advice needed.

Something like Tetra Tabimin might work, it falls into dust-like bits.

Congrats on the berries

Thanks for that ... wasn't hard.

Berries ...

I discovered another RCS with berries ... Seems like I have a very firtle tank going on here.

On another note though: I need to raise the GH/KH just a little for the shells. GH: 10 (179.0 ppm) KH: 7 (125.3 ppm) As I understand things about RCS the best Water would be around 220 PPM dGH.

Any ideas on the best / safest way to accomplish this?

Thanks for lookin'.

Best wishes,
Wes

The easiest way to raise KH is by adding crushed coral in your filter media. I'm not familiar with the innards of your cannister, but I assume you can trade out some media for either crushed or broken coral pieces, right?

That'll help the shrimp shells.

Thanks Eric.

I thought I knew this, But it's always good to get a second opinion. Or even a third or fourth if still not sure.

Thanks again.

No problem...glad to help. I use aquaclear HOB filters because the media compartment is ideal for things like this. I'd heard you could do the same with cannisters. I used to keep Tanganyikan cichlids, so I really had to up my KH (both substrate and with filter media bags).

Well as far as shrimp & KH, even after adding crushed coral mine is lower than yours. I'm out of test right now so can't give you a # but they seem fine & have for a couple years even before the CC, added more for snails' shells.

Seems like there is little difference whether I keep the GH/KH up.

The only reason I asked about it was that one of the site I had done some research for keeping them mentioned about keeping the hardness at 220 ppm. Unless I am mistaken about the.

I will try to find the site for reference so you guys can reads what I read about that.

Thanks for helpin'

Best wishes,
Wes
