bangaii cardinals

i jus tgot my order of fish and i had 3 bangaii cardinals ( 1 male and 2 females). 2 of them were DOA. it will cost me another $40 to replace them ($40 is just the shipping and handling charge). my question is do cardinals really need to be in pairs or are they ok to be alone. there will only be 3 other fish in there with it. blue tang and 2 false percula clowns. is the bangaii a fish that need s to be with others of the same kind.
anybodys input will be appreciated.

I can't offer advice about cardinals, but I do have a question.

Did the terms of sale specify that you assumed the risk for DOA fish

If two-thirds of my order came in belly-up (at least if it happened more than once) I'd have to give serious thought to finding another way to get fish :shake:

i got them from marine depot. the cardinal that lived had about twice as much water in his bag as the 2 that died. im waiting on an email from them right now. the fish themselves are not a bad price. $18, but its the $35 handling fee that i have to repay. i dont htink ill have to pay for the fish. just the handling fee and %10 shipping cost. total of only $39 bucks but i just paid that to have them shipped, what if the other fish die when shipped. ive heard good stuff from others about marine depot. anyone here had good/bad luck with them? i also had 2 cleaner shrimp in the order. they are acclimating very well.

I'm not sure if this helps, but my LFS has a large reef that includes one cardinal. It's been in there for 2 years, and seems to be fine. They put it in becasue it arrived without one eye, and no one would buy the fish. It's in with a mix of other fish, and is quite social, seldom hiding, and fairly active each time I've seen it (3-4 times a week--I'm frequently at the store !)

mine seems to be doing pretty good. i have just now switched the lights on. they really are beautiful fish. by the way i got 2 damsels im trying to get out of my tank, anyone know a better way then just taking out all of the aquascape to do it?

good luck on the damsels I can't be any help there. I had a Pajama that was alone for nearly a year before I added his 3 schoolmates. He did just fine and very rarley hid but, when I gave him friends it was like night and day he was much more outgoing and moved around a lot more. Pajama's are there first cousins but, I don't know how much alike they act.
