Anyone keeping the Banjo catfish, Bunocephalus coracoideus? I remember not having any luck with them years ago but was thinking about trying again. Planet catfish didn't identify anything particular about their requirements.
I use to have them, but not for over 10years now. They are nocturnal, like to bury in the sand, likes frozen foods (blood worms, tubiflex, brine shrimp, ect) put into tank after lights are out.
I like mine and haven't had any issues with her. We had a dozen come in at work (lps) and had no issues with them either. Just not a fish for those that want action and excitement.
About a year or two ago, I had two of them in my 55 gallon tank. I had heard they were very difficult to kill. I don't know if that is true or not, but mine were as hardy as any of the tetras, danios and rams I had in the tank. My problem with them was that they were very hard to feed. They just sit on the bottom of the tank and you never see them move. You just come back the next day and they're in a different spot. I would put a shrimp pellet in the tank and would have to stick my hand in there and put the pellet right in front of the fish. Even then, sometimes the tetras and danios would get to it before the banjo did and bump it around. Then he wouldn't even bother with it.
The only time I see mine is when I do a water change and he comes out of the sand. I thought he was dead for about a year untill one day he popped out of the sand :dive2:
