I have 3 tiger barbs and 2 gold barbs and ever since I reworked their tank they have been eating my plants. They never bothered with them before but for some reason now the amazon sword chains and the vals have become snacks. Anyone ever have this problem? If so, what may have caused it and how do I stop it???:help:

I have a school of golden-barbs and they never touch my plants. Are you sure it is not the CAE??

I'm sure it's not the CAE's cause I saw the barbs do it with my own eyes. As far as I can tell there is nothing on the leaves that wasn't there before. I only have 1 snail in the tank and he is too big to be eaten. This problem is really driving me nuts though.

My barbs eat any veggie I put in the tank.

Is it the tigers too?

Golds and Roseys will eat just about anything.

Try giving them some zucchini once a week and see if they leave the plants alone. That may help.

Thanks lovemybarbs. I think I will try out the veggies and see if it helps. And yes, it's the tiger's as well as the golds.

My clown loach do the same thing to mine sometimes, especially when I first introduced the plants. I think they thought I was feeding them the plant or something.

My barbs go as nuts for algae wafers as my Silver Dollars do. This leads me to believe that they are omnivores as well. Feed them algae wafers with their regular flakes or whatever you feed them and see if that calms them down.

Well, i'm not sure what happened exactly but for some reason I can not feed my fish enough. No matter what I give them they won't stop eating the plants. I vary their diet so I know that's not the issue. It's all after I re-worked the scaping in the tank. I guess it justs promotes hunger now.
