Tiger barbs can be rough on passive fish and fish with longer fins. It might be cool to have a tank with only barbs, such as tiger barbs, green tiger barbs and black ruby barbs. I have all of these together in a larger 75 gallon tank, along with other asian fish, such as clown loaches, balas, tin foil barbs, rainbows and hardier gouramis. It's a very fun and active tank. Good luck with the new tank!

I had tiger barbs a few years back. It seemed like the only fish I tried to keep that they clashed with badly were angels.. it was weird, the tiger barbs would almost seem to "bristle up" and act very threatened. Otherwise, I kept them with mollies and red eye tetras, and it was all beautiful. The tigers seem to keep to their own kind. I've never seen one behave badly, but people have their stories. I'm currently starting my 40 g with Rosy barbs-- it's amazing how much they've calmed down since I've added plants (I added bunches and bunches of plants yesterday)-- so I think if your tank is segregated into different "territories" like that it's helpful in preserving the peace and keeping everybody happy. Also along those lines, choosing fish that swim at different water levels helps them all ignore each other. ;)
