Barracuta

I have to say that after having actually swam with barracuda (in Moorea and Bora bora - part of tahiti) I cannot imagine keeping them enclosed in an aquarium. They are huge (the ones we saw were ~7ft) and extremely active and fast. I just cannot see them not having the room to roam. And yes, I do believe they are some of the fastest fish. There are so many fish out there that would work well in a tank - but I could not in good faith ever suggest barracuda.

I'm looking for some of the pictures I took of them. Will post when I find them.

No way a 1,000 gallon tank can even come close to housing even a smaller barracuda. Try at least 10,000 gallons. As mentioned, they're silver missles that reside in the open ocean. In contrast, nurse sharks spent most of their time just hanging about the shallows waiting for food to swim by so they can be housed in a very large home aquaria since they hardly move.
