bass blockers for 4inch speaker.

i realize a 4inch speaker isnt capable of playing bass very well and distorts when bass is put through it at high volumes. to fix that problem i would like to get some bass blockers for them, however i dont know what frequencyies to block out. ive seen blockers that block that go from 0-300Hz, all the way through 0-5.6kHz. what frequencies do you think i need to block? the speaker is a kicker DS series 4in

Look up the frequency response online and go from there, are you using them as midrange? tweeters? full range? Do you have a subwoofer already? what frequency do you have that set to cut off at? For example, you don't want to put bass blockers starting at 500Hz if your sub stops at 100Hz and you end up with a 400Hz gap in your music.

the sub is a kicker CVR, it covers from 25-500, the 6x9s cover 30-21000, and the little 4s cover 60-20000. sub goes in the trunk, 6x9s in the back deck, and 4s in the front door (they are the only size that fitted) hopefully this tells you what you were looking for. based on these statistics, what do you think i need to get for the 4s? and do i need to get blockers for the other speakers as well?

what's on the amp just the subs? what wattage are you running to the 4's?

killing 0-300hz on the 6x9's isn't a bad idea either. i'd go with the wider range on th 4" though probably. the more of the low end you kill on smaller speakers the longer they'll last and more distinct sound you'll get.
