I need a battery aquarium cleaner/siphon/syphon. Whatever you want to call it. Thanks.

If I wanted to buy it from Amazon, or anywhere else besides here, WHY would I have posted HERE?

No you don't. For some bizarre reason that's what you think right now, but it really isn't so.

I know you guys aren't fans of them but I have a lot of pieces of algae on the bottom of some of my tanks and I can't get it all before the syphons drain out too much water or clogs. I have a bunch of syphons in all different sizes and makes.

Oh yeah, and it would also make water changes easier on some tanks by not having to start up a vacuum, which can be a pain. I have some siphons with squeeze bulbs and those often get pieces of plants stuck in the valves. I don't like running dirty water and sediment from my Lee's water changer to the sink or bathtub or toilet either. They get clogged easily.

Any of these reasons good enough? It's not going to be used to replace water changes.

They are all good reasons. But not many people on here have them to begin with, and if they had one they either use it or threw it away. is $15 that big of a deal to order from amazon? if you get one of that model you may have to wrap something around the bottom where the slots are so you get better suction.

I think I actually have that thing out in the shed, I got it in a bulk lot of fish goods. It looked like total hokey crap, so I left it buried on the bottom with the ugly red and purple plastic plants, and other miscellaneous stuff I didn't want from that lot. I'll try and dig it up tomorrow. It may not have that little sock or whatever, though, I don't remember seeing it. (Not sure how that is supposed to work anyway...)

This is what you probably really want...

The other thing looks useless. If it worked well, it would be more popular, trust me! However the Quick Vac has a pretty good reputation in comparison, and looks to be a much more quality built product.

Because not everyone is savvy with searching or knowing where to buy online. Excuse me for trying to help. If you didn't want to go to Amazon then ignore the reply.

I chose Amazon because I figured you wanted it quickly. They are $10 and less if you want to wait 2 weeks to have the same item shipped from China.

And with something so cheap to begin with, it's pretty ridiculous to buy a used one that's likely to have corroded battery terminals, missing parts, etc. It makes as much sense as asking to buy a used 2 gallon gas can.

If what is in your tank is clogging your syphon, then its doubly sure going to clog any battery powered gravel vac on the market.

If clogging is truely an issue, it isn't impossible to DIY a vac that will work for you. Instead of running tube straight into your sink/bucket, get a large widemouth jar with a solid lid that will give a tight seal. Drill two holes in the lid of a smaller diameter than your tubing and silicone the lid around where the two tubes enter. You basically make a knockout pot that will collect the detritus before its pulled into your sink.

i have the quick vac, and i never use it. it's got some bits of my substrate stuck in a harmless part of it, but make mean offer and we'll talk :)
