BBA Just Won't Go Away

Ahhh, BBA. That one is a demon my friend. I used high doses of Flourish excel (I think it was twice the recommended dose) to kill it. But it also killed my Elodea plant. There is also another plant that can be killed by it but I never remember its name. PLUS you should dose carefully because if you dose higher than twice the recommended dose it could kill fish too. But I was battling with it for a few months until I decided to try excel and bingo. If I were you, I would give it a try. I almost wen crazy with that stuff. I know how you feel. Good luck there.

i'll try the partial blackout along with the excel after I remove as much of it as i can. should I leave the CO2 going on its regular schedule?

you can spot treat it with h2o2 and a syringe. i add a little line of air tubing to the syringe and it is even more precise, plus when you draw the h2o2 into the syringe you can get every last drop from your source cup as you dont want to draw from the container. you can safely dose 3ml per gallon, some do more even ALOT more, but play it safe and research any concerns. h2o2 is much cheaper than excel. 99 cents for a huge bottle at walmartgreenscvs places. you might already have some @ home

also, i agree try and go with an 8 hr light period, once you feel you've gotten rid of the darned bba..

good luck, it's tough!!
