i cannot advise on power compact. i use what everyone said i couldn't. that is fluorescent and cfl bulbs. i believe pc's will give more light per watt and therefore you may end up with more light. i have not tested this myself obviously so can only go on what i've read. will your ballast still work with a bulb missing? if so that may be a good start. maybe (and this might be a stretch so ask around first) you can do something like foil tape around one of the bulbs every couple inches to lower your light output for now.

you are going to have to manually remove (by hand or toothbrush) the dead stuff and any other sorts of algae if you can. and then repeat once every day or other day. just make sure your filters and lights can be on for about an hour after treatment.

i was away for a few dayz , now that i camback , 95% ov leavs were rotted away ... i scrape off the leavz by hand few dayz ago and didn t redo the the h2o2 treatmnt as they seems look ok and leave them in 5g.
now that i cameback ...:wall:
