Got a new oscar today

she has the prettiest markings I have seen in a tiger oscar....

they are "getting aquainted" so she is missing some scales.. and these pics to do her beauty justice...

but here is my Oscars!!

note that all of the marks on them are NOT due to todays dispute

they were both rescues and were pretty beat up when I got them...

No I am not running an illegal oscar fighting ring in my fishroom lol... but one things I have learned with oscars is sometimes they need to settle their disputes.. and as long as they arent doing significant harm-- I dont get involved

The larger the tank, the better your oscars will do. They grow into really large meaty fish and reguire a large tank.......minimum 100 gallons. I seen oscars 14" and probably weigh 3lbs.

well.. they have a 120 to themselves so I hope they will get along

that's the way i feel with my oscar and his tankmates, as long as nobody is missing more than a scale or two, i let them sort out the pecking order and territories themselves. if i find that any of them are getting a lil grumpy and defending a certain area of the tank a lil too much i just re-scape the slate, fake tree stumps, and plastic plants to create new areas. gives the finkids a 'new' environment and satisfies my need to mess in the tanks, lol.

as for the markings on your new 'fish dog', lol, very nice! the reason mine got named Gus is because the markings on one side actually spelled out his name, at least until he nearly quadrupled in size and the 'letters' got stretched.

they have been seperated.... that union was a bad idea

only the male shows signs of injury-- doesnt look too severe though.. just some missing scales in a couple spots

I will have him fixed up in a jiffy
