Two days ago I finally bought my first dragonet. She is eating well now that I found arctipods since she decided not to eat mysis. Today at work, we got some more dragonets in stock, and I couldnt help myself. :) I read that it is ok to house two together as long as they are not the same sex. I was careful to buy a male this time, so I wouldnt have any fighting. Now, he is floating in my tank and they keep poking at each other through the bag. She is about half an inch bigger than he is and deffinetly interested in him. However, I am a little nervous to add him in soon because I am not sure if they are just curious or angry. What would you suggest?

you have to let him go, you can't keep him in the beg forever. let him be and whatever happens happens

I wanted to ask because I could still take him back if there is a large threat. Wanted an opinion. I have them in a 29 biocube with many copepod piles. I also have a hatchary so they wont run out of food.

I wouldn't keep 2 dragonets in a 29g. IMO, that's just too small of a tank to support 2 over the long term.

Some places recommend having 100 lbs of LR per dragonet, although I've also seen recommendations closer to 60 lbs of LR per dragonet. Regardless, housing even 1 in a 29g will require attentive feeding for any chance of long term survival.

Hello,

about adding a 2nd dragonet to your 29g you for sure are going to have to add more pods. I added one to my 38g awhile back and thought I had a great pod population and in just weeks I hardly saw pods anymore when before I added him they just COVERED the glass. Since then I have been adding pods that I order online every 2-3 weeks just to make sure he is getting enough. Now he is just getting fat lol Heres a pic http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=6053363

If interested in the pods just PM me and Ill send you the link. Oh btw they are $21 shipped.

As for enough food, I have been adding live copepods, live tiggerpods, and baby brine shrimp twice daily. They also eat arctipods that are not alive. They both love all of these choices. As for the fight that went on, I seperated them and put the male in a breeder tank inside my 29 so that they can still socialize without direct contact. They have been showing less and less interest in eachother, hopefully I can put him back in sometime next week. I have been reading up on them non stop since this whole thing happened. I am lucky enough to have a store so close that sells all of these food types for them. I will keep you updated on their progress.
