Behemoth planted tank

that tank is amazing

wow and to think my Bolbitus is in that tank :)
Great job Tom:

As far as fauna, we all have to remember the client has everything to do with the choices here in fauna, so before criticizing, remember Tom just carried out the wishes of the client, and did a great job. You can only imagine how many things Tom had to talk them out of in order to compromise. That alone must be hard.

It was a colorful conversation:)
And yes, that is your weed.
He had trouble with it, then figured out it was CO2(go figure) and now it's coming along nicely.

I have come to appreciate the massive fish loads in these tanks, they are really fun to watch, it's not "a picture" like many photo's we see in books or on line, it's an actual community that ebbs and flows and entertains the eye(if you want an art rendition of the "experience").

I will make the scape nicer in the end of Jan/early Feb.
and hopefully less Discus and more Altums.

The good news is the LA Zoo is defintiely going to do 2 large planted tanks , one a community(20x5x6- 4500 gal) and the other a pedator(20x8x8, 10,000 gal). Around late fall. I have all the wood and rock already for them and we have a great plan to do them. While you all may be thinking I am the only one, many folks made this happen, Tenji and Rainbow pet shop, the owner etc. I just designed and tweaked all their hard work a little.

Very cool, Tom. Let me know when you start working on those. I have to go out west for work, and I will certainly plan it if I could kill two birds with one stone and stop in to peek. <maybe I can even learn something> hehehe

SCAPE is the local plant club, if you are not in a local plant club, you should!!

They will get a viewing sometime soon, maybe 1-2 months or so.
It will be far more fun this time.
And they raved about it before.

The filter is large sump(400 gal) and has a 6ft FBF, 4 large high flowe bag micron mech filters, 500w of UV, 5ft Biotower, 700 Gal RO tank, 1000gpd etc.

See here for more pics:

Carl has more pics and more will be posted once they stop by again.
Here's their local club web site:
