I recently added a bengai cardinal to my tank be he doesn't seem to be interested in my food. Well thats not true...he swims toward it but doesn't eat it. Its like he is saying he will eat but just not what I got. I have tried dried shrimp, and a fresh mixture of clam, shrimp, and scallops. The other fish love the fresh stuff.

Whats everyone else's bengai's like to feast on?

yeah I will try that tomorrow. She seemed to be interested in the food so I think once I find the one she likes, she'll eat. I don't think she is stressed at all. Thanks for the tip.

I dunno if you tried it but you could feed it live or frozen brine shrimp
and you could direct the food to it by the blunt end of a bamboo skewer
(it might associate the skewer with food eventually.)
just dont hit the fish!

I just got some frozen cyclopeez which I mixed with aquarium water prior to adding it to the tank. I turned off the pumps and jets so it would stay in the water column but she still didn't take it. Well she ate some and then spit them back out. So i think she WANTS to eat but is just particular about what she gets. The LFS who sold her to me said she had been feeding her the same thing. All the other fish liked the treat so it wasn't a total loss.
I haven't tried the blood worms yet. I just hate to buy a whole container of food and find out she won't touch them. She is no doubt still adjusting to her new surroundings but it is "fishy" she eats and spits it out. That tells me she isn't stressed but rather picky.
Anything else I should consider?
thanks for the quick replies

Well she didn't make it. I am going to the LFS today to see if her's are REALLY eating. I asked before I bought her, but it might have been a sales pitch. (sigh)
