my marmorkreb is berried and has been so since about last thursday or friday. shes in a 10g right now. do i need to seperate her from the young when they hatch? will she eat them? what do i feed them? do i need to take my 2 female endlers out?
Marmorkrebs are one of the few crays that don't readily hunt and eat their young--some may get eaten but if you have enough hides for the small ones they should do fine. Any fish that is housed with baby crays will snack on them as the crayfish are at the bottom of the food chain. You should be fine with the 10g tank but you will need to keep your water clean. I feed my marmorkrebs a variety of foods but for the babies I just add in a small pinch of the Hikari Fancy Guppy food and move up to the Hikari Micro Wafers as they grow.
Depends on a your tank parameters and a host of other variables. Generally anywhere from 20-30 days. It is soooooo cool to see the babies crawling around!!!!! The babies will hang from the swimmeretts for a few days after the eggs hatch and this is really cool to see too!!! They then will just drop off as the mother walks around the tank. They are so very tiny!
