I have had several RCS get saddled, turn bright red and then have swollen bellies (not really their bellies of course) but never any babies! See photo. I also never see the distantly yellow eggs either, they just get fat. Would that be them carrying unfertilized eggs?? Today I finally got a female holding yellow eggs! I couldn't get a picture of her of course. :) I wonder how far off babies are!!

I have had these guys almost 3 months now, it is about time I got some good eggs! I started feeding them EVERY day and I guess that did it. I did not want to be feeding them everyday because when I was doing that originally I got lots of MTS babies which was not the plan.

I got a picture of the one holding the bright yellow eggs. You can't really see them but the picture came out nice! :) When she had her butt to me and was fanning the eggs the camera would not focus!! :mad2:

YAY! Thanks!

But what is up with the big girl with no visible eggs? (1st Photo) She is by far the biggest shrimp I have, at least 1 1/4 inchs.

No more eggs! She dropped them. I actually found the eggs floating today which I thought was pretty unlikely. I wonder why I am not having luck with breeding them.

aw :( sorry to hear it

are you sure you have a male? the male will be much smaller, and almost clear. the tail will be slender, not showing the "skirts" the females have. without a male, you wont have any fertile eggs. if you have a male, and the male is very small, he may not be mature enough to breed.

Wow I guess posting during the day yields a lot more responses! Thanks everyone.

I do have several males. I believe I have 2 females & 6 or 7 males actually. I am hoping that they are just now maturing and I will see more fertile eggs in the future. I bought them 3 mos ago & they were all a decent size but I do not know how long it takes them to mature.

These pictures were flukes! I can NEVER get good pictures of my shrimp. I took about 30 pictures to get that last one, but I think it was worth it! :) I just love the way the light is hitting the aunbias. I have a Kodak Z650 but I am having major problems with the focus right now, especially on close-up shots. I am dealing with Kodak right now actually and this explains that experience....:wall:
