We're looking at getting a 48" PC light of some sort and I am down to either the satellite or the aqualight. I'd only like to spend about $125.00. Our tank is a FW 60 gallon tank and it will be lightly planted. I've heard the aqualights are noisy, I'm assuming it's a humming noise. Can anyone provide some feedback?

i have aqualight and it doenst makenay noise well i think the noise comes from the fan when you get the double light config. ones and i dont have those.. sorry no help haha

I have the Coralife FW Aqualight Deluxe Single Linear Strip.
2 x 65W
on a 75 gallon planted tank.
Plants growing OK ... algae is not out of control.
There is no fan so it does not make noise
I believe the Double Linear Strip units have a fan for cooling.

I have the Coralife quad. 48" It has fans but I have never heard them, nor have the lights emitted any noise at all. The may be out of your range but the single strip that dxq mentioned is probobly similer in terms of sound output.
I have an All-glass 48" fixture with 2 55 watt bulbs. I've found these are very reasonable. They're made of the same plastic as normal fluorescent bulb fixtures I think. Not metal like some others but the price is pretty good.
I recently bought a Jebo 4 x 55W on ebay for $85 and that was delivered! Check eBay and look for seller "AquaDeal" as he's got some really great prices!
