I need opinions on which is the best regular flourescent bulb I can get. I'm looking for 18" 15w, 6500k. There are so many different kinds out there. Is there really any difference in them (Nutri grow, Daymax, Gromax, Sunglo, etc, etc, etc, )

Thanks,

Here are my picks based on what you are looking for.

Cheapest: Daylight Deluxe 65K from Home Depot
Best for Plants: Power-glo
Very Good for Plants and Best for Fish Colours: Aqua-glo

Hey anyone ever used the Full Spectrum VITA-LITE?

CRI (Color Rendering Index) is of 91 and color temperature is 5500K.

These bulbs are very popular for live plants, birds and reptile care.

Are they good for aquarium plants?

I have heard good reviews about vita-lites as well. Never tried them because I haven't found them locally but supposedly they were the first to make the "daylight" bulbs and have been doing so for a long time.

Just to let you know the K rating on the powerglo tube says 18,000K but that is not right. I would guess it's around 10K, not exactly sure. Anyways it does a phenominal job with plants, trust me.

I have been using the power-glo tubes and I agree, they are quite good. F.Y.I. marine-glo as a K rating of: <to high to measure> Can't always trust manufacturer for what they claim :(

Hagen's Life-Glo is 6700 K, high intensity.
Watt for watt, this bulb appears brighter than the Penn-Plax Ultra Tri-Lux, which I thought was the brightest bulb I could find for my tanks.
