Best Algae Eater

I have both BN and Otos and love them both!

But DD is right, the Otos may not be the best fit for your Cichlid setup...
I would go BN for the cichlid tanks and Otos for the shrimp/guppy one.

Just please make sure your tanks are well established first of these 2 species could easily starve for lack of food. Although the BN eats wafer and such, they also really should have Drfitwood to rasp on.

What are BN's???? Bristel nose pleco??? It is really the cichlid tank i am worried about. The guppy tank has about 6 ghost shrimp who i think do one heck of a job cleaning up.

Otos rock, too well for some. It only takes ~1 per 10 gallons to keep spot/dust algae down, especially on leaves etc. as they're very gentle. They don't eat clado (hair) or BBA.

I could see problems w/ adequately sized Africans dying in an attempt to eat an Oto. For a tank full of Africans, I'd suggest pond or Malaysian Trumpet snails.

Yes, BN's are Bristle Nose Plecos

I think the siamese algae eater would be a good choice for your tanks. They are great tank cleaners (some consider them the best) and unlike ottos, SAE's can be alone
