Trying to get something to eat algae in a tank is a bad idea. They normally do a spotty job or are too large for the tank. That being said, snails are some of the best cleanup crews I've seen. Their numbers may get out of hand though. If you're look for a way to curb algae, less light and do not overfeed.
BN or snails in general, but it depends on the tank size and what other fish are in there.
Besides light and nutrients being the best way to control the algae, my constant companion over the years has been elbow grease.

It annoys me when people dont answer the question but instead give other opinions. I do not have an algae problem in the slightest. I just want to add another fish and someone who can continue to clean the bottom. Thank you for your mostly useless responses.
It is very hard to answer the question with out having the relevant information such as tank size and current stocking of the tank.
Without knowing the relevant information about the tank I would never recommend any one get clown loaches.
Agreed. Clown Loaches are a bad idea. They don't grow slowly. Their initial growth is quite quick. They slow down about halfway through their full length, but then they shoot up again, a lot in girth. Still half of their size is 5" at least and you're talking about a fish that likes to be in schools.
