What would be a good freshwater cleanup crew? I was thinking some snails, but I have live plants...would they eat them? What about shrimp?

although snails are really fun and interesting to watch, they produce as much waste as they clean. They will eat decaying plant matter and some algae but are not proficient algae eaters. Shrimp produce less waste but eat alot less as well. What sort of cleanup are you looking to accomplish?

I agree^.

but IMO cherries are machines. I noticed a diffrence in my 5g with just 5. I also like Oto's they are very active but on the glass. And they stay small so they wont block your view lol.

plecos are the same way but still super popular.

Actually, I was just hoping for a fun little invert, but cleaning is definintally a plus! How many shrimp (cherries) would be appropriate for a ten gallon?

cories and cherries do just fine...what is the stock of the tank? Starting with 10-15 cherries will give you plenty, especially as time goes on and they reproduce. They do best in a planted tank, or at least one with some java moss.

I don't have any java moss, but I do have about five little plants. Right now, I have 2 cories, 1 guppy, 3 tetras, and 1 swordtail.
