best color of sand substrate for cichlids

My "natural" looking tank has crushed coral mixed with some tan gravel, fake plants, ceramic tree stumps and some flat rocks with holes.

My other tank has black sand, black background and texas holey rock.

I am not sure which one is "best". I think it matters what you are wanting.

If you want to go natural, then I do not think black sand is for you. The good think about the crushed coral mix, is that it helps keep the PH up. I think it helps for breeding. I have many malawi born in my "natural" tank.

It is all up to you. I searched the photo section for inspiration.
