Whats the best method for diffusing co2 in a DIY co2 setup? Airstone? Dome Diffuser? What is it?

If you can stand the noise, i though hooking it into my power filter worked good. But i decided to get a power head with the air devise on it.

I use a limewood airstone that produces microbubbles that are directed toward the filter spray bar which pushes them all over the tank.

For my 40g I took the tube from a siphon cleaner and attached a powerhead to it. Added two small holes at the top of the tube; one for the co2 line and the other to create a feedback loop to the venturi intake on the powerhead. The latter prevents bubbles from coalescing into large blobs. It also adds some 'updraft' making it impossible for bubbles to escape before being dissolved.

Of the things I tried, this is by far my favorite. It was super fast to make, no bubble escapes before dissolving, it's quiet, it doesn't expose expensive filter parts to the co2 and no airstone is required so nothing is restricting the output of the co2 and creating back-pressure.

People also seem to be quite happy with the hagen ladder co2 diffuser.

In my 10 gallon I just feed the co2 into the intake of the HOB. I know I lose a lot but in a 10 gallon it really doesn't make that much difference. It also keeps the ladders and bells out of the tank.
