I agree with your choices, but the tank size, bio load, and type of fish has to be accounted for when shopping.

I will NEVER EVER give up my Whisper Heaters, Power Filters, nor my Whisper Air Pumps. They just work too great. I have tried Emperor, Aqua Clear, Penguin, AquaTech, Sandman, Elite, Millennium, and many more that I will have to go look under my bed at the almost 10-15 boxes with filters that have been put to rest. My Whisper seems to be the best.
not making fun of you or insulting you, but why do you have 10-15 boxes of tank equipment you don't like under your bed
I keep on seeing the new equipment, then I will buy it, try it, then go back to my Whisper. Seems like nothing beats my Whisper. Not even the Emperor, Penguins, Aqua Techs, Millenniums, nor the AquaClears. Some of the newer ones I have tried is Elite and Tetratec. Tetratec is better than Whisper, but It is huge and will not fit with my new hood.
Aquaclears are about the best HOB filter, Eheims are by far the best canisters, but the Rena XP3 and Fluval FX5 are well up there.
