Best filtration for a 70L tank?

Howdy all! A newby just cycling a 30x 38x60cm tank, well planted with a view to keeping rainbow fish - (small varieties), would appreciate any advice on the best quality filtration I can provide? Internal vs cannister filter? Can I redeploy my existing AquaOne internal filter for supplementary filtration etc? Also have a Eheim air pump currently for oxygenating water, so wondered how I could maximise my set up?
