Just bought 14 gallon Bio Cube. Need to know the hardiest, but most "interesting" fish to stock it with, and the proper number of fish. Do I use snails, catfish, as well?
Livebearers may suit you such as guppies, platies, and swortails. Once you are cycled you may want to consider a dwarf gourami as a centerpiece, they are also a cast iron fish.
i'd get, once it's cycled of course,
1 betta or dwarf gourami.
6 schooling fish that stay under 2" (harlequin rasboras, neon tetras, ect.)
and 5 pygmy cories or 3 otocinclus catfish. (don't get otos till it's been up a while)
But if you dont want babies, only get males. If you put females in there, you will definitly have fry every 28 days without a doubt. They breed like rabbits.
I would get a betta, 5-6 cory cats, and some zebra danios. Those fish are BEAUTIFUL and they're probably some of the top easiest fish to care for. They're actually cast iron, in my opinion. Even ask the pickle-cat!

Amen to that. I wish I hadn't gotten a female, but now I don't have the heart to get rid of her, so I have to find homes for groups of fry every month.
