Best Flake Food...

Yeah, all of those including canned water tuna ground up with fresh cooked oatmeal as a binder into pasty balls, as juveniles they loved it and have grown big especially the Bumblebees the size of electric razors. But I was told to stop it for long life so I have been feeding them flake and they go through it like fast. Im hoping Kens veggie flake can replace the pasty balls.

interesting.. you do like to make things..lol

I can see using oatmeal to bind a mix of veggies, and maybe shrimp together...

For anyone interested in Spirulina Flakes, I get mine at "Goldfishconnection.com".
Goldies and koi love em and they are excellent for their digestion.

it's so nice to see kens getting all the deserved kudos for his food. his site provides very good descriptions of all his products, not just his foods. allows for easy comparisons & key words to focus on when comparing.

no one beats his value pricing on foods, the quality is excellent - carries HBH which doesn't include dyes & fillers. the quantity you get for the price blows away any other seller/resellers. and yes - he keeps shipping low cost (note you can change from ups to uspo while in your shopping cart to get the lowest cost).

my discus - who were at one time finicky eaters devour kens flakes (I mixed kens with my leftover large tetramin can). when I leave my AC110 on & feed flakes & the flakes get swooshed around, my discus chase the flakes like it was live food!!

so +1000 for kens!!

I've had nothing but good luck with NLS products. I feed the community flake w/garlic to my community tank, my Tanganyikan Multies, and mbuna fry. I also feed their cichlid formula 1mm and grow pellets. That being said, I'm sure some of the others are good also. I just couldn't ignore all the raves for NLS(especially for cichlids), even for a couple $ more.

I've been wondering something for a while and this thread seems like a good place to ask. Is there any reason not to use those "color enhancing" flakes like TetraColor (for example)?

Color foods usually are more for red/orange colored fish but it doesn't hurt others except maybe gold based discus, they might turn more orange than gold.

I use Ken's color flake, earthworm flake, ON Prime Reef flake ATM. I have used Tetra color & omega 1. I bought but haven't opened Ken's brine shrimp flake & beefheart flake.

If you have enough fish variety is always good

using kens food mixed with my tetramin, my angels markings became rich & darker. my discus have richer colors also but comes n goes depending on their moods.

but they still go after flakes like it was live food!
