I boght a roket gar at 8" a week or 2 ago. It was difficult to feed and I saw it eat only the night before It died and I knew it wasn't the food because the rest of the tank was fine and they ate alot more then the gar did ang he had a chunk the size of a bit under a golf ball in its mouth. the food is frozen krill. at the store there is a nice looking needle nose gar about a foot long. I know It is fine with BPs because It is in a tank of foot long plecos foot long frontosas and 5" bps how much agression can it take and is easier to feed than the rocket?

needlenose gar isnt a true gar. If you were looking for a true gar the best IMO would be the shortnosed because it only reaches 2' I believe which still is huge but nothing compared to the others. Needlenose gars are very cool I think but they are very skitish I have heard and sometimes may be tricky to get to eat and mostly only eat feeders. I dont think it would be wise to have with aggressive fish because of how skitish they are they can run into the sides of the aquarium and become damaged.
