Best Heater for a 6 Gallon Nano?

Thanks for the replies.

I have the heater turned down to "69" but it's still keeping the tank at about 77 degrees. This is with the lights off (no plants or fish... no reason to have them on). The thermometer is in the opposite corner of the tank from the heater. I can't turn the heater down much more, and having it turned so low yet still so warm really makes me nervous. Two or three degrees off I could handle, but eight degrees is a lot. I think I got a faulty unit. I'm think I'm going to return it to amazon and go with the 25 watt instead...

I hate heaters. :P

I have a heater set right now that is about 8 degrees off as well. As long as its holding steady I am alright with it.

I hate heaters too. ;)

Oh, now the story gets even better. I look at the heater today and now it has condensation INSIDE the glass tube!

Hydor, I am NOT impressed with this product.

Needless to say, this heater is going back to amazon as soon as the replacement (which, unfortunately, is also a Hydor THEO) arrives tomorrow.

I just hope it doesn't explode in my tank in the meantime. :irked:

Gggrrrrrrrrrrrr.....

I am the bad guy in all of this. I have 5 and a 3 gallon tank and neither of them have heaters. My tanks stays at a steady 78 degrees. One is a 3 gallon (planted) Eclipse and the other is a 5 gallon (a small electric blue crayfish) Aqueon bow front. A lot depends on what equipment you are running and how warm your house is. My house is never below 74 degrees. Both of the tanks are fairly enclosed so I think that has a lot to do with it. I don't even have that much problems with evaporation.

Nah, that doesn't make you a bad guy... just lucky. I wish I didn't need a heater, but my apartment gets down to the low 60's during the winter and I wouldn't want to subject my fish to that...
