Best Heater

I have looking around and the person who posted that Jagger heaters are crap now appears to be exactly right. All their heaters on thatpetplace.com aren't even submersible! I think I'm going to try a Visi-Therm

There is no Link Kas, I got my info from a supplier who imports the heaters directly from Germany. Out of the first 4 cases of heaters he sold all but 2 heaters were returned. The old Ebo Jagers were awesome, however Eheim has ran that good name right into the ground. I can't say if they have infact done some improvements since that time, but it was enough to lose my trust.

Just a side note, the Jagers are all submersible, its just some are sold as UL listed, and UL (underwriters labratories) will not approve them if they are listed as being submersible, however both the ones without UL approval and the ones with UL approval are infact the same exact heater, just one has UL stuck on it. Both "kinds" are submersible.

I was at that pet place yesterday and they had big signs near the heaters saying that the ebo-jagers were not submersible (The exact wording escapes me, but it was quite brief)

It didn't exactly inspire confidence to buy.. especially when there were so many other heaters available that didn;t have warnings posted there.

I personally have a mixture of heaters, most that came with the tanks, but I did research a little and purchase a Hydor heater myself, I'm not saying it's the best, but it meets my needs, and I'd certainly buy another.

Like I said, they are required to put that sign up because they have the UL listing stamped on them. The heaters are still submersible, provided they are the Ebo Jagers and not the new Jagers those I don't know what the deal is.

Like a lot of people said, I have to say, go with the Ebo's :) I use a 250 in my 100 gallon a 250 in my 75 and a 100 in my 38 gallon. Gone through a lot of heaters in my life but so far I have not had to replace any of these.

Via Aqua titanium heaters are my choice for being the best heater. I have 3 @ 300 watts each. I think they are the most user friendly heater's on the market that arn't too expensive. I've been using these heaters for only about a year, I don't know if they have a long track record of reliability. Also I should mention that I have them unplugged during the summer months because I don't want them turning on while the window air conditioner is running. Having 3-300w heaters turning on with my air conditioner running will trip my circuit breaker. :( My aquariums take up alot of juice so I have to be real careful.
