just a general question in order to decide if i have to pay a high price for the best and most effective ick treatment. i have used a few types including wardley brand, quick cure, and jungle brand. all are reasonably priced. the one i found to work the best was the mardel brand which is twice as expensive for a smaller bottle. does anyone have any better treatment ideas?

HELP! ICH! but early stages...

OK, clown loaches are showing signs of ICH... it's just 2 or three spots at this time. The water quality is fine. I did a 25% water change at first sign of it... just to be safe. I don't see it on other fish... at least, I don't think that I do.

Tank is a 60 gallon PLANTED aquarium and has:

3 Bosemani Rainbows
1 Turquise Ranbow
1 Red Rainwbow
5 Neon rainbows
1 Pleco
3 clown loaches

First, how warm can I take the water

Second, I would assume salt is out... should I use a product that uses whatever green and fromaldehide.

Third... this is my first outbreak.. I've heard to use a half dose with the Loaches, I've heard to heat to 82 and continue treatment for a week, I've heard to raise it to 86 for 4-5 days.. I've heard to treat for 2 week until a month. There are so many answers.... I'm looking for personal experiences...

Thanks to all...

I had a tank with a couple of beautiful 7" Pimelodus cats that got ich. I used Quick Cure (Formalin / Malachite Green) and killed the cats.

With clown loaches I would stay away from any "chemical" treatments. They are very sensitive.
I recently treated a tank with ich by adding approx. 1 tbsp per 10 gallons salt and raising the temperature to 87F. I kept it there for approx. 11 days. The tank contained SA cichlids as well as yoyo loaches and pimelodus catfish. All breezed through the treatment, and as soon as that temp. hit 86-87F I didnt see another spot. This was by far the most effective and cheapest cure that I have experienced. The elevated temp. also caused more intense colouration in the cichlids, made for some good pics lol....
