Best Method for Aiptasia Removal

After the drastic measures you took I'd not keep the fish and inverts in a freshly cycling tank. I'd put them in a QT and do frequent water changes as needed. I'd go get a new heater for the display tank and let it finish cycling. They are certainly going to be stressed being moved back and forth but the idea of them swallowing would make me concerned.

heh sorry not to hijack your thread, but might I get them in my 20gal with 15 watt lighting?

Aiptasia are supposed to thrive more in lower lighting but form my experience, they grew even more after I transferred the rock they were on to a tank with more lighting. But if you see any of them growing, just get a couple peppermints to eat the small ones. They won't grow in every tank either. Out of 6 tanks I've owned, this is the first with aiptasia I've had.

I plead temporary insanity lol. I came home from being away for a couple weeks and saw the huge aiptasia everywhere and I couldn't take it anymore. Everything else seemed hopeless

Hey, I feel ya. I tried the vinegar injections last night. It worked on all those I could reach but there is one bottom rock in a tight place that I just couldn't get a good application to. Ironically that is the rock the peppermints all live in...the brats were even swaying mere centimeters from the things.

oh my god, dude. i can't believe you let them talk you into this mess....

Where in this thread has somebody talked Jesshika into a course of action? I would suggest you read the whole thread before making assumptions such as this.

No matter what course of action you took Jesshika, we are all here to help you make the best of the situation, and we can all learn something from it mate..

Wow - ok wasn't quite thinking of that drastic of measures but ok.. With an infestation like the one you had I don't feel there is an easy approach to the problem.. I've only had a few in my system and am battling them daily with the common remedies..

The other thing you could try was Mr.Firemouth suggested Berghia Nudi's.. You could add these to the system once you are done as a final measure to ensure that you are clean.. I have asked a question as of today as I believe these only feed on Aip's so you'd have to pass them to someone else who had a problem when you were done with them or they would probably end up dieing in your tank.

Its Grins Reef thread in the Reef Forum but here is the link to a site that sells them..

i think that when one says to use one method and someone agrees then it tends to lean toward that disition. i just can't believe that someone would even recomend to do something like that. i know from my own experience that it's very difficult to make right chices when you are new and allow someone unexpirienced to think of doing something like that is pushing an issue too far. it was bad idea and no one should have mentioned it. you need to get bio-spira to help your system. do a water change for now, it's possible that it won't get worse. add some Prime to keep everything less toxic. if your tank smells bad then rock is curing , which is not good. you don't have that many kritters or fish, so setting up another tank with few pieces of cured rock would be great. i'm done here. you guys got her into it, so get her out of it. good luck
