Casino Royale.
Daniel Craig had to "reset the Bond clock" from the beginning. That's a lot of weight on an actor's shoulders.
The foley artists were exceptional. The use of suppressed weapons and exactly duplicating the sound, well they were on the mark. On pistols, the sound of the weapon's bolt cycling will often be louder than the report from the muzzle, and they timed the brass clanking on the ground vice the bullet impacts perfectly. Almost eerie as to how well they got it right during all of the gunplay in that film, as if these guys had prior personal experience with these things.
I'd never seen the original, so this movie was a real treat for me. The use of film noir in the beginning was tremendous...colorless, harsh, gritty, brutal in showing Bond's utter contempt for a disloyal MI6 mole and his lackeys.
Musical score, starting credits and razor sharp graphics and burning color bring you to the current world situation and the shaping up of the story. Couldn't believe it was 2-1/2 hours long, because it just does not ever stop and let you down for a second.
Yeah, I liked this one a lot, not that y'all can tell.
