Does anyone have any secrets on the best places to buy supplies- Seachem Prime/Food/Water Test Kits.

Is it cheaper to buy online- or from my local Petsmart/Walmart?

For fish I'll go to the LFS- but it shouldn't matter where I buy my supplies from-who is cheapest?
 
I think www.kensfish.com has the best prices, dr fosters and smith also often will run specials. Also, you can print out an online petsmart price and have them price match in the store if that is easier for you.

Do you mean Petsmart will match online prices- or do petsmart have different prices online to in store?

It would certainly help to just nip down the road to petsmart (3 miles away) rather than pay for shipping.
 
i create an excel spreadsheet that consists of thatpetplace, bigalsonlne, drsfostersmith, petco, petsmart, petmountain, kensfish.

i list the prices, sizes, applicable taxes, shipping and other costs involved in making a purchase, and then any discounts applied and then figure out where i am going to be getting the best deal. it will also help me figure out if product a is cheaper but has higher shipping than another location it might be worth it to buy it at a more expensive place that has free shipping....

after i do all that i have answered my question of 'where is the best place to buy my stuff at'

Support local business! Privately owned LFSs need the support of hobbyists. Sure you might be able to save a few bucks ordering online or from a box store, but these places can't thrive on selling livestock alone. If they go, then you're stuck ordering livestock online as well, the costs of which far exceed the extra couple bucks for many dry goods.

Petsmart will price match.
I save all my Dr. Foster and Smith catalogs and That Pet Place catalogs, you can just take the catalog in with you and they will match the price. Both places will send you a catalog for free if request one on their web sites.
Hold on to the catalogs, because both places run different sales each month, but the prices stay good for a long time.

Understand the sentiment and it is noble- but I'm already stretching my dollar as it is trying to get back into the hobby is expensive.

Also, my "L"FS is a thirty minute drive away on the other side of town. (unless there is one nearer I don't know about).
