I want to upgrade my lights.
I have no clue where to get them though.
I tried lowes, but they dont have any thing that will sit on top of the aquarium. Its all made for ceilings.

Am I missing something to look for?

Are there any websites where I can buy lights at? I found a few but they're VERY expensive, like 500 dollars. I don't think a simple fluorescent hood would cost that much.

Any ideas on what I can do for this simple yet hard project?

What type of hood should I look for at lowes

Or do you know of any websites where I can buy them from?

I have a 46 gallon, with less than 1 wpg, so growing plants is basically impossible.
I'm tired of my plants just barely scraping by.

I bought my two light upgrades from Big Al's. I used google to research the lights I wanted, found both of them cheaper at other sites, and used the price match to get them even cheaper.

I have the Coralife F/W T-5 Aqualight Double Strip Light on my 20L, and the Current USA Nova Extreme on my 28 gallon bowfront. The Nova Extreme was listed as $65, and I think I paid a little less than $50 for it.

I got a great deal on EBay, 260 watts nite lights 4 fans 3 switches.. $125.00 delivered to the front door...350.oo at my local petshop..

Price is going to depend on what you want to do with your tank. Is this just for keeping fish lit up, or are you going high plant?

My DIY Canopy I bulilt for my 30 gallon tank with CFLs bumped my light up to 3 watts per gallon and only cost me $24.
