best plant substrate???

ADA is actually a little cheaper than Eco......

Was going to cost me $100 for I think it was 4 9 liter bags for my 60 gallon vs. Eco for $130+

do you need less ada soil?

note that a a 9 liter bag of is approximately 20 lbs.

for 4 9l bags shipped 104 + 42 shipping Total: $146.14
eco i can pick up local for $20 for 20 pounds so thats $80 plus tax

i am going to get some anyways

I can only get Eco around me for about $30-35 a bag in my area. My lfs quoted me $107 shipped from ADG for the black(Amazonia I think?)

Ah.... thanks for the link. I would go with that deal but I got a different idea for my next substrate. Will keep that in mind though.

<---Used flourite, wishing he hadn't. In hindsight I should have just paid the few extra dollars and gotten eco. Three water changes in two weeks and it's STILL cloudy.

um oh no! i was going to use seachem black flourite sand or gravel ( not sure yet ) in my 10 gallon tank main focus are plants ) .. is it really that hard to get clean???:eek3:

It all really depends on how well you rinse and how you fill after putting it in the aquarium. I would suggest micron filtering after filling if it is too cloudy. Otherwise it should clear up in a few days.

Filling slowly and carefully is your best bet. In my 20H I fill so slowly that sometimes you can see a distinct separation in the new water and darker water on the bottom(tannins from driftwood)

I just setup my 75g with 3 bags of eco and a little bit of flourite, i wish i hadnt added any flourite, my water has been cloudy for 2 days since filling it, and the smallest disturbance in thw substrate causes huge clouds to come out of the flourite, even after i washed i thuroughly!!!

im gonna have to rethink this..... i was going to put it in a 10 gallon, with no fish for a while.. but will the flourite make the water cloudy EVERY time it is disturbed? so like every time i add a new plant or water change it will be cloudy for days?? filter i have is a marineland biowheel 150 ( good for 20 gals )

No, once it gets a bio film on it, it will not cloud
